Term 2 Week 1 Nursery Blog

Little Birds were pleased to return to the nursery after our half term break ready to learn again.

This week we were introduced to our provocation ‘Celebrations’.

We celebrated Teddy’s birthday in the role play area and wrapped up boxes to make presents.

We developed our understanding of the world, imaginative skills and physical development.

We spoke about firework night and were able to recall our experiences.

We painted pictures of fireworks using cotton buds and experimented with colour mixing.

Some of us made patterns on the chalkboard outdoors to represent fireworks also.

Some of us made fireworks from magnetic shapes.

We had fun making different marks and patterns in glitter using a brush, observing pattern cards.

The Little Birds started to inquire and learn about the meaning of Diwali and how it is celebrated by Hindus and Sikhs.

We dressed up in different shiny costumes, made Mehndi patterns from magnetic shapes and Rangoli patterns using coloured rice.

We listened to the stories ‘Flash Bang Whee’ and ‘Rama and Sita’.

A very successful week of learning – Well done, Little Birds.
