What happens during different seasons of the year?

This week Little Birds have been looking at different seasons and the changes in the weather. In the garden, we noticed the flowers growing, observed the signs of spring and cared for the plants by watering them as well as covering their roots with more soil.

We enjoyed using weather and season spinners and learnt songs about the weather and seasons. We enjoyed dressing up in different clothing for various climates. This developed our understanding of the world around us.

The stories we listened to this week were “The Gruffalo” and “The Gruffalo’s Child”.
We spoke about the feelings of the characters as well as the seasons. This enhanced our emotional development as well as our listening skills.

Little Birds participated in various activities linked with the Gruffalo, working on many skills including expressive arts and design, imagination, writing and physical skills.

We were making Gruffalo crumble in the mud garden and pretending to be a Gruffalo.

We made models of Gruffalos from playdough and textured resources.

We also enjoyed the number activities in the maths area based on ‘The Gruffalo’.
