What happened in the story of ‘Chapatti Moon’?

Nursery children learn how to use safety knives to cut food.

This week Little Birds have been looking at the story of ‘Chapatti Moon’. It reminded the children of The Gingerbread Man, because the animals chase the Chapatti.

The children used their creative skills and imaginations to paint representations of a Chapatti Moon. They explored colour mixing with paint and small paint brushes.

They tasted Chapattis at snack time and spoke about the flavours and texture.

They recalled what happened in the story ‘Chapatti Moon’ as they shared the bread.

Also, we talked about the importance of washing our hands when eating and preparing food.

Nursery pupils conduct an experiment using glitter and sanitiser.

The children carried out an experiment with sanitiser and added glitter to represent how quickly germs are spread, to express the importance of good hand washing/hygiene.

They learnt how to use scissors safely to cut different materials in our environment…

They learnt to operate and handle children’s safety knives carefully when cutting playdough and preparing food in the Nursery.
