This week Year 1 have had a really exciting week! We have been looking at pirates and have been exploring a range of pirate poems. On Wednesday we had a pirate day and dressed up as pirates, we had hats, eye patches and some of the children even brought swords!
At the beginning of the day, the children discovered a riddle left by the Pirate Queen, which told them about a treasure that had been left in their classrooms! They searched around and found dubloons in the classroom and then the Pirate Queen gave them a flag to decorate for their own ship.
After all of the children had decorated their flags, we learnt a pirate song and dance, which the children really enjoyed.
To end the day, we played pirate games and were able to do a pirate dance. The children enjoyed their pirate day, and we look forward to more amazing days like it in the future!
