This week all of the Year 3 children took part in an Italian Pizza Project.
As part of their PYP inquiry into how ‘Lives can be affected by the environment’, the children learnt about the foods that can be grown in volcanic soil (more specifically in Naples, Italy). This is why they have such delicious ingredients to create their world famous pizzas!
Using what they had learnt, and some DT skills, they started by designing and building their own pizza boxes, making them as authentic as possible.
Once these were complete, they used new skills to weigh ingredients and knead and roll dough as well as building on skills they learnt in Year 2 when slicing and chopping vegetables to create their masterpieces. They topped their pizzas with all of their favourite toppings including mushrooms, sweetcorn and ham before putting them into the ovens in our new, fully-equipped DT suite, to cook.
Everyone was really pleased with how their pizzas turned out and they tasted delicious! Well done Year 3!
