Tapestry is a piece of software that we use in our Nursery and Reception classes. This is a tool to record observations and assessments at school, which we can then share with you at home. In addition, you can also add home learning to share with us. Tapestry can be downloaded as an app or accessed via the website – upon gaining your place you will be asked to provide your email address so that we can sign you up on to Tapestry with a secure password. Only you can access your child’s profile and all data is encrypted to a secure server.
Where do I start?
Go to https://eylj.org on your computer, or if you have an iPhone or iPad, visit the iTunes store and download the Tapestry app from the Education section (search for Tapestry Mobile). Once you have signed the agreement and provided us with a valid email address, we will add you to the system and Tapestry will send you an email asking you to create a password and login details. This email may go to your junk mail folder, so please do check this if you are still waiting! We strongly recommend that you only share your login details with trusted family members.
Changing your settings
On the computer:
At the top right of your screen you will see your name, and selecting this will give you the option to ‘Edit Preferences’. Choose this option and you will be presented with a screen giving you the option to change your email address, pin and password.
You also have the option to receive an email whenever a new observation is added to your child’s Learning Journal – just tick or untick the relevant box if you would like to change this setting.
To change your settings on the iPhone/iPad app, click the ‘cog’ button on the bottom right hand side of the application. This enables you to change password, pin and/or email address.
Viewing my child’s Learning Journey
Once logged in, you will see your child’s observations on your home screen in a list – selecting any one of these will open up the observation for you to look at. You may add comments in the box at the bottom of the observation if you would like to – and we would love to receive such comments!
Adding an entry to my child’s Learning Journey
Choose the ‘Add Observation’ option (or the ‘plus’ icon on your iPhone/iPad) and add the relevant information in the boxes on screen. Photos and videos may be uploaded by choosing the ‘add media’ option. When you have saved your observation, you may go back to the home screen at any time by choosing ‘home’.
What People Say
Pupils are given many high quality opportunities to develop their curiosity and creativity. They are encouraged to use their imagination, for example when thinking of ways to praise a friend, and are taught to respect the feelings and viewpoints of others.
Pupils are engaged and motivated by the way teachers present and teach the well-planned curriculum. This not only ensures that good learning takes place but makes a strong contribution to pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
Teaching assistants make a strong contribution to the good learning taking place, especially when pupils with special educational needs are taught in small groups outside the classroom. They work in very close partnership with teachers and bring an additional range of helpful skills and experiences into the classrooms.
